City of Madison seeks election workers

The City of Madison Madison is looking to hire election officials for next year’s four elections, including the 2024 presidential election.

Election officials, or poll workers, help facilitate voting and maintain order at the polls. The job is paid at $14.68 an hour, the current adjusted rate for the position with inflation factored in, for two to four days a year.

The position is open to anyone 16 and older. High schoolers are encouraged to apply to help pad experience that’s valuable for college applications. The job presents a unique opportunity to participate in the democratic process and helps those who are hired to better understand the hard work that goes behind our local and nationwide voting efforts.

Duties as an election official are setting up and tearing down polling places, registering voters, issuing ballots, recording who votes, monitoring election equipment, completing election day forms and tallying write-in votes.

Applications and more information can be found on the City of Madison City Clerk’s Office website.
