Second annual LPA Invitational set for August 13

LPA members getting ready at the LPA Invitation Warm-up event last month

The Latino Professionals Association (LPA) of Greater Madison will host its second LPA Invitational, a golf outing to take place on August 13 at Yahara Hills Golf Course, 6701 US Highway 12 and 18.

This will be a continuation of the partnership between LPA and Yahara Hills Golf Course from the first outing. The inaugural event saw over 70 LPA members attend the course in a space that was inviting and fruitful for driving new membership while strengthening relationships among members both old and new.

At that inaugural LPA Invitational, almost $11,000 was raised to invest in Madison’s Latinx community, and this year’s event looks to do the same.

“With the success of the Inaugural LPA Invitational, we were compelled to embark on this journey once again,” Rogelio Carranza, LPA Treasurer and Invitational event lead, said in a release. “The 2023 LPA Invitational is focused on making space for both Latinx and non-Latinx to come together and enjoy a round of golf, all while focusing on creating a platform for education and a forum for networking.”

The founder of Madison’s Change Golf Instruction, Sue Shapcott, Ph.D., PGA GB&I, will also be offering introductory lessons newer players from 7:45am to 9am the morning of the event for an exciting opportunity to learn from a talented golfer.

Driving the inclusion of BIPOC women in golf is also an important aspect of the day as the LPA’s partnership with Midwest Mujeres Collective looks to address the lack of presence in the sport as LPA Board Member Lorissa R. Bañuelos shares the comment, “The LPA recognizes that Latina and BIPOC women are under-represented in the game and our engagement efforts need to be intentional in order to build a pipeline of BIPOC women in golf.”

The LPA is inviting participation by both individuals and companies across the spectrum of professionals in all backgrounds. Sponsorship tiers are available for both companies and individuals with multiple being available still. All contributions will be applied to LPA’s professional development fund.

The tiers are Legado at $5,000, Presidente at $2,500, Ejecutivo at $1,000, and Socio at $500. Perks are dependent on tier, but can include things such as a company logo sign at the hole of your choice, company logo in all golf-fundraising related marketing and communications including speeches and photos, complimentary golf foursome(s) with custom event golf balls, and access to a golf cart, green fee, and appetizers.
