American Family Insurance has made a $500,000 pledge to Campaign CENTRO to help Centro Hispano build and open its new home on Madison’s south side. The campaign hopes to conclude in winter 2023, when Centro will celebrate 40 years of service.
“I’m honored to serve on the board of Centro Hispano and see firsthand the commitment to providing Latinx families with the inspiration and support to follow their dreams and the tools for success to make meaningful contributions in their communities,” Cesar Pinzon, American Family Insurance vice president of inclusive excellence, said in a statement. “I’m grateful for American Family’s ongoing partnership and support of Centro Hispano and I know this additional investment will allow them to continue their impactful work in Dane County.”
American Family Insurance and Centro have spent years cultivating a strong partnership, according to a press release from Centro Hispano. The press release said this gift will help toward the construction of a new building where 7,000 plus individuals seek support each year.
Classroom spaces will now be able to better support our youth programs, including Centro’s nationally recognized Escalera High School Program. Funds will also support the development of a community kitchen and outdoor plaza and seed funds for expanding community programming that prioritizes collaborative workforce strategies in partnership with organizations such as American Family.
“Centro Hispano has been a nonprofit partner of the American Family Insurance Dreams Foundation since the Foundation’s inception in 2016,” Maggie Pascaly, American Family community and social impact director, said in a statement. “We continue to invest in the organization because of their focus on closing equity gaps and affecting positive, social change in our communities. American Family believes in championing dreams and opportunities so that everyone can rise, and Centro Hispano is at the forefront of this work in Dane County, enabling Latinx youth and families to feel empowered to reach their goals. We’re proud to support their efforts.”
