Urban League offers free Financial Empowering workshop series 

The Urban League of Greater Madison is offering a free Financial Empowerment series of workshops designed to help Madisonians achieve their financial goals they’re working towards. 

These sessions will provide information about purchasing a home, starting a business, and planning for retirement. 

This series will be four days of learning from different financial organizations who want to help community members reach their financial goals. All sessions will be held at the Urban League, located at 2222 S. Park St. 

On Tuesday, July 25 from 6:00-8:00 pm the Urban League will talk with participants about creating their personal empowerment plan and determining their financial goals. 

In the second session on Tuesday, August 1 from 6:00-8:00 pm, participants will learn about how to use debt to achieve their financial goals presented by the Johnson Financial Group. 

The third session on Wednesday, August 9 from 6:00-8:00 pm will provide participants with information about credit by the UW Credit Union. 

The last session on Tuesday, August 15 from 6:00-8:00 pm will be about saving strategies for homeownership and retirement presented by Thrivent. 

Through the series, participants will learn how to build budgets to help them achieve their financial goals, understand and build their credit scores and learn about community resources to help support their goals. 

Catered dinner will be provided each night. Participants who attend all four sessions will receive a $100 gift card to Home Depot.
