Multicultural Coalition Inc. (MCI), a 501(c)3 nonprofit, has moved into its new space at 333 1st Street, Suites C and D, in Menasha. The community organizing group works to eliminate barriers, fill basic needs and convene partners while welcoming and advocating for community members in Winnebago, Calumet and Outagamie Counties.
Since its founding in October 2020, MCI has served thousands of community members through outreach efforts including home visits and more than 150 onsite events in places where people feel safe, such as libraries, schools, mobile home parks, barbershops, churches and more.
Focused on identifying needs and eliminating systems barriers such as IDs, health insurance and language, MCI collaborates with partner agencies and non-profits to provide referrals, give basic needs items, source food, coordinate health services, secure employment and more. Most recently, it set walk-in hours to provide barrier-free services on Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at its Menasha office.
MCI also brings together community partners for monthly lunch and learn presentations to raise awareness of community needs and advocate for change.
“We are dedicated to supporting community members and culturally based organizations where and how people feel safe. Our approach is to re-invigorate social connectedness and belonging through human kindness while ensuring people have their needs met. At heart, we are organizing with our partners to fill gap based on what people tell us the needs are. This new space enables us to meet more of those needs,” executive director Lisa Cruz said in a statement.
The property is owned and managed by Titan Property Management LLC.
